Specifiers who asked for a branded indoor unit do not want a surface brick with a sticker. An OEM wall UI flush mount puts your glass in a European wall box at production volume, without a housing project from a blank CAD file.

Alledio’s Room Unit is that class of device. It is designed and manufactured in Slovenia for HVAC original equipment manufacturers. The housing is an OEM programme, not a DIY plate: 98 × 98 × 23 mm. The host still runs the plant. Occupants see your face on the wall.

Who this is for

This article is for OEM product managers, industrial designers, and BMS device makers who need a branded flush wall UI at production volume, not a one-off installer plate.

Typical lines: AHUs, residential and commercial heat pumps, VAV and rooftop units, ductless mini-splits, VRV, chillers, boilers and DHW, plus actuator-facing UIs. End markets include offices, schools, hotels and museums. Installers and system integrators cannot buy Alledio direct. The commercial model is high-MOQ OEM. The usual MOQ is 1,000 pcs, and it is negotiable.

If you need standalone I/O and application logic in the same family, that is the Room Controller, not this SKU. Flush mount here means the housing and the glass, not a transfer of your plant code onto the wall.

Flush mount is an OEM housing programme

Buyers lose months when “flush mount” is treated as a third-party fascia you screw over a catalogue thermostat. A useful RFQ treats the housing as a programme decision: one electronics pack, one wall-box language, several brand skins.

A DIY plate is a cover. An OEM wall UI flush mount is the device: glass, sensors, bus citizen, and 23 mm body as one unit. Alledio does not sell a universal plate as a webshop SKU. Whether two of your brands share one housing is a programme call you write in the RFQ.

OEM customisation is the NRE path. Logo on glass, UI colours, widgets, housing colourways (white, black, silver, plus custom), optional sensors, packing and docs. You pay for the delta, not for a new radio and a new mould. Hardware, firmware, and documentation can follow the same conversation.

Write what you will not change. The 98 mm square, the 3.5" glass, the RS-485 citizen, and the host-driven model are the platform. Flush mount does not mean a new radio, a new protocol stack, or a new safety board unless you quoted that work separately.

A hotel SKU and a heat-pump SKU can share the same board and still sit in the same wall box. Write those as two brand packs on one electronics revision: one NRE conversation, two faces, one wall-box language.

If your current indoor unit is a private-label thermostat from a catalogue house, treat this as a swap of the wall face, not a swap of the outdoor unit. The plant sequence stays on the board you already certify. The occupant only ever sees your glass, flush with the plaster.

Brand surfaces that belong in the housing programme are the same ones a white label HVAC room display RFQ should list: exterior logo, UI chrome, colourway, optional sensors, and the faceplate language on the carton. The flush body is not a fifth project. It is the mechanical envelope those surfaces sit on.

Why a 3.5 inch OEM HVAC touch panel belongs on the wall

A 3.5 inch OEM HVAC touch panel is large enough for temperature, humidity, air quality and a one-tap absence, and small enough to stay in a 98 mm square. Capacitive touch plus a brightness sensor keeps the glass readable in a lobby and quiet in a bedroom.

That size is why flush mount works. A larger glass wants a surface brick. 3.5" at 480 × 320 still fits a European wall box. Hotels usually care about the glass first; AHU brands care about the host map first. The same panel can carry both if those lines are written separately in the RFQ.

Power is 12–42 V DC (24 V recommended) or 24 VAC ±25%. Do not assume 230 VAC. That is the thermostat family. Ingress is IP20. Housing is ABS plus scratch-resistant glass. Weight is 150 g. Those numbers are what an industrial designer can put next to a corridor elevation without inventing a second thickness.

The 98 × 98 × 23 mm body and the EU wall box

Published mechanics are 98 × 98 × 23 mm, 150 g, IP20. That is a flush-friendly square for a standard European wall box, not a North-American decorator plate and not a surface-mounted retail thermostat.

Depth is the number that kills a DIY cover. A 23 mm body is meant to sit in the box, not to stand off the wall as a brick. If your indoor unit already has a 98 mm cut-out language, you can keep that language across a hotel, an office, and a residential heat-pump controller without drawing a new fascia for each SKU. Ask for the mechanical drawing with the ICD so your sheet-metal and interior teams work from the same envelope.

Write the wall-box assumptions in the RFQ: the box family you already pull, the maximum stand-off, and whether the glass sits proud, flush, or slightly recessed. Alledio publishes the finished device, not a field-cut plate. Commissioning should not invent a shim stack on site.

Connections are push-in CAGE CLAMP 0.2–0.75 mm². Use a twisted pair with drain wire and foil wrap, or equivalent, suitable for RS-485. If several Room Units share one segment, write the addressing table so the wall box is a known citizen, not a surprise node.

Do not treat “EU wall box” as a promise that every national box is identical. It is a design language: square, flush, 98 mm. If your line ships to a different box market, quote the housing delta in the RFQ, not a bag of adapter plates from a wholesaler drawer.

Host vs wall: the plant stays off the glass

The display is host-driven. Setpoints, fan, schedule and alarms sit on the glass. Sequences, safeties and plant algorithms stay on your controller. Recuperation views or a sanitary hot-water shortcut are firmware options, but they are still requests to a host unless you specified the Room Controller.

That split is the point of an OEM wall UI flush mount. Occupants see your brand, flush with the wall. You keep control IP. Modbus RTU on RS-485 is the default copper pair (slave default; master on request; 9600–115200; parity none/even/odd; software-defined termination). Wi-Fi 2.4 GHz is for OTA and, for verified partners, MQTT or REST. Bluetooth 5 LE is ready; the GATT map is yours. The product page also lists a 0–10 V analogue output as a connectivity option.

Industrial designers should treat the wall unit as a faceplate programme: one electronics pack, several brand skins, one box. Controls engineers should treat it as a slave that publishes sensors and accepts setpoints. When those two teams write one RFQ, the NRE stays on logo, UI and colourway.

On an AHU or heat-pump line, safeties and hydronic logic stay on the board you already certify. The wall unit publishes occupancy, setpoint, and sensor values. Flush mount does not move the plant into the wall.

Not a catalogue SKU here: native BACnet on this product (native BACnet lives on the Multi-Sensor family); KNX; 230 VAC relays (Thermostat / Room Controller). Flush mount does not invent those buses. If the brand needs them, quote them as OEM work or keep sensing on the Multi-Sensor and keep this unit as the occupant display.

Compliance you can defend sits on the same programme: RED 2014/53/EU including the cybersecurity delegated act, RoHS, and a 10-year security-update window from first placement on the market. Country of origin is Slovenia, EU.

No. Alledio sells to OEMs. Installers and SIs get units through your channel.
